Stinky Sink Hole?!

(as Amy would say.) O.K. It’s not clogged but something in there is getting funky. Again with the baking soda, friends.

This has worked every time for me. Salmon, spoiled milk, grease remnants, you name it. The baking soda neutralizes the smell, the vinegar turns it into carbon dioxide and kills bacteria and the lemon juice cuts the vinegar smell. The baking soda and vinegar also break down fatty acids into glycerin allowing foods to pass through easier. This does also help with minor clogs.

*NEVER add bleach to this! Bleach and vinegar are a toxic combination!*

You will need:

  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 1/8 cup lemon juice (fresh or bottled)
  • for clogs, have a tea kettle full of water ready

First sprinkle your soda down and around your drain.

Now mix your vinegar and lemon juice together and pour it on top and down the drain.

Yay science!

After you are finished you can flush your sink with hot tap water or the tea kettle water and…

Smells like clean. If your stench is persistent, you can do this a couple times.
